The Marion Area CVB is currently taking nominations for the for the Customer Service Star Award.

Have you experienced great customer service from someone in the Marion Area. Someone who demonstrates the true spirit of hospitality, customer satisfactiona and commitment to service to the people of our community and our visitors.
Please consider nominating that individual for the Marion Area Convention & Visitors Bureau’s Customer Service Star Awaryd.
All nominations must be received at the Marion Area Convention & Visitors Bureau no later than the close of business May 4, 2012.

Customer Service Star Award Nomination

“We want to highlight those individuals who are the best at making visitors “feel right at home,” states Diane Watson, Director of the Marion Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.

If you know of someone you feel has given you excellent customer service and should be commended publicly for such, pick up a form at the bureau’s office at 1713 Marion-Mt. Gilead Rd., Suite110(Mallard Square) and complete the details. You can run out a form, drop it off at the office or send it via mail, email or fax. All completed applications should reach our office by May 4, 2012 to qualify.

Your nominee should be able to attend the annual breakfast in June hosted by the Marion Area Convention and Visitors Bureau to honor hospitality businesses and volunteers in the travel and tourism trade locally.

Entrants must have been working in this capacity in Marion County in either a paid or volunteer position between January 2011 and January 2012.

Marion Catholic Auction, Dinner and Dance

Palace Theatre

Feburary 24 – New Found Road, a bluegrass band, will perforn in the May Pavilion inside the Palace Theatre, 276 W. Center Street. Their music is powerful and streamlined, featuring hard-driving, soleful contemporary bluegrass as well as achingly beautiful country and pop ballads. Civil War Exhibit and Portrayal

Feburary 9 – The exhibit will be at Stengel True Museum, 504 S. State Street. This is co-sponsored by the Harding Home and will begin at 7:00 p.m. Mark Holbrook from Ohio Historical Society will impersonate Civil War photographer Matthew Brady. A Civil War exhibit with objects from the Stengel collection will be unvailed. Admission is $5.

Ground Hog Day – Buckeye Chuck

Feb. 2 – Ground Hog Day with Marion’s own Buckeye Chuck at Clear Channel offices at 1330 N. Main Street. Buckeye Chuck is the official weather predicting groundhog for Ohio. He will check his shadow as the sun rises and predict the spring thaw. Come early before the sun comes up, if any, to enjoy hot drinks and spam burgers. www.wmrn.com

Marion YMCA Triathlon

Swimmers compete in the swimming leg of the annual triathlon held at the Marion Family YMCA. The triathlon consisted of swimming, biking and running. This year a duathlon was added that included running and biking.
